Artist
I have a passion for drawing and painting. I studied art at Goldsmith’s College, London where I also trained to be teacher. Now living in Cheltenham, I combine both elements in my life by teaching art to all ages and draw and paint whenever, whenever and whatever I can.
I love to paint outdoors and watercolour is an ideal medium in which to capture a moment or place. I have, over the years, developed a unique style which employs very free drawing combined with loose washes of colour and enables me to work very quickly.
I travel widely and run watercolour classes on cruise ships as well as workshops in the UK. This year I will be leading two watercolour courses at Marlborough College Summer School and running workshops on the Cunard Queen Victoria in the Autumn.
Painting Tution with Carolyn King
This is an opportunity for adults and children to have specialist tuition in sketching, watercolour or mixed media. Lessons take place at my house in Cheltenham in a relaxed and friendly environment. I have a very flexible approach and am able to identify and improve upon areas which need development.
I can help children to prepare a scholarship portfolio by introducing different media and techniques and to prepare them for an open day test.
My charges are £30per hour to include all materials.
I also run day workshops in the Gloucestershire area and can travel to within 25 miles of Cheltenham. Costs are £200-£250.
I run Art Days with Jo Neil at the very lovely Windrush Gallery near Burford and am regularly invited to run Art Workshops for local Art and WI Groups.
This summer I will be running two Art Courses at Marlborough College Summer School.
